Patient Rights and Responsibilities

Mioline Clinic Suwon presents the Patient Rights and Responsibilities below to respect patients' rights and provide a safe care environment.

Patient Rights

1. Right to receive care

Every patient has the right to appropriate health care to protect and promote their health, and shall not have this right infringed on the basis of sex, age, religion, social status, or economic circumstances. A medical provider may not refuse care without a legitimate reason.

2. Right to know and to self-determination

Patients have the right to receive sufficient explanation from their physician, nurse, and other staff about their condition, treatment options, and expected risks, to ask questions, and to decide for themselves whether to consent.

3. Right to confidentiality

A patient's physical and health information and privacy shall not be infringed. Medical providers and institutions may not disclose a patient's confidential information except with the patient's consent or where required by law, such as a criminal investigation.

4. Right to request counseling and mediation

When a dispute related to medical services arises, patients may request counseling and mediation from bodies such as the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency.

Patient Responsibilities

1. Duty of trust and respect toward providers

Patients shall accurately inform providers of their health-related information, and trust and respect the provider's treatment plan.

2. Duty not to obtain care by improper means

Patients shall verify their identity before care and shall not obtain care by improper means, such as using another person's name.
